Innovacare Health Closes Nutrition Program

An open letter to my patients of Innovacare Health- Urban Health, Orlando Family Physicians and Family Care Partners:

I hope this message finds you well. It is with a heavy heart that I convey the closure of the nutrition program at Urban Health, Orlando Family Physicians, and Family Care Partners (Innovacare Health). By now, you’ve already heard the news and probably have lots of questions.

Moving forward. As we embrace change a new chapter begins. As one door closes, another shall open. This isn’t how I expected things to happen but I have faith that this is the path that I am supposed to take.

Have you moved to a new office and can I still see you?

I am committed to continuing my journey as a primary care dietitian and have already begun establishing a full-time practice. I am in the process of getting credentialed with insurance although this may take several months. As a temporary measure, I am offering discounted self-pay options to ensure accessibility to my services.

For those who prefer face-to-face consultations, I have secured workspace in Leesburg, set to open in July. The address is 216 N 3rd St, Leesburg, Fl 34748 but I am only there by appointment and this is shared space, there is a big sign out front that says Medicare.

Additionally, telehealth appointments will remain available for those who find it more convenient.

Will I still be able to use my insurance?

The short answer is that I don’t know yet. Please email your contact info to [email protected] and I will personally call you and review your options.

Although saddened by my departure I remain in close contact with many of the physicians at Urban Health, Orlando Family Physicians and Family Care Partners. I am sure they will be willing to provide referrals if they have not already done so.

While I was at Innovacare Health I was able to see patients based on medical necessity at the discretion of your primary care provider. Unfortunately, not all insurance plans cover all conditions so please call your insurance to find out what benefits are available to you. If they ask for a code you can give them 97802 or 97803, the service I provide is Medical Nutrition Therapy.

What REALLY happened?

In addressing what truly happened, while I remain on good terms with my previous workplace, the reality is our healthcare system faces financial challenges. Future changes in reimbursement for Medicare Advantage plans have most likely influenced recent decisions regarding the closure of our nutrition program. As someone with prior business experience, I understand the necessity of difficult choices and can only chose to move forward.

Conclusion

In conclusion, while this transition has been difficult, I remain unwavering in my commitment to providing valuable resources for improving nutritional status. The closure of the Innovacare Health nutrition program only fuels my determination to explore alternative solutions, be it through grants, private funding, or advocating for better insurance coverage.

To my valued patients at Urban Health, Orlando Family Physicians and Family Care Partners that were impacted by this closure, I extend my deepest apologies for any idisappointment or confusion caused by the lack of my personal notification. I urge you to view this change not as a setback, but as an opportunity to continue your journey towards improved health.
